Here’s a great idea for your center pieces for your flower arrangements

Looking for an alternate to a generic vase and a bouquet of flowers for your center pieces?

Over the summer before our wedding one of our favorite things to do was to head out exploring on the weekends. Antique, thrift-shop, and yard sale exploring, that is. Our mission: find cool stuff we could use in our wedding.

When we started planning we had a general idea, a feel, a vibe that we wanted, something that reflected us and our personalities, but nothing too specific. Not yet. But as we searched online, looked at other wedding blogs, read wedding books, and attended a wedding show in our area, we began to develop the eclectic rustic vintage look that we made our own.

We saw some pictures with smaller collections of flowers instead of one huge bouquet per table. We began to pick up small glass vases and bottles that we could use for our centerpieces.

One of Ben’s favorites was this old vinegar bottle that I found at an antique shop that was in an old church. The label was half worn off, but enough of the label remained to show that the vinegar was made in Nashville, TN, our town. We had to get it. And at $6 it was one of the more expensive single bottles we bought.

We ended up settling on the idea of two to four bottles per table, each with a few different flowers. Not every table would have the same types of flowers and every table would have different sizes and shapes of bottles.

As it turned out this flexible arrangement worked to our advantage. The reception was held in a room with lots of small tables, some two-seaters, some four-person, and some larger round six-person tables. The flexibility of being able to make the centerpieces of different sizes simply by adding or removing bottles was perfect.
